Keeping the high burden of self-perceived morbidity in mind, interventions to improve physical health, awareness and care-seeking practices targeting children, elderly, females, backward castes, minority groups, illiterates, rural residents and those having lower SES, poor sanitary practices and inadequate access to safe drinking water were required urgently. Simultaneously, efforts to improve the healthcare service delivery might consider implementation of intervention targeting improvement of knowledge and practice among non-qualified practitioners in poor-resource settings where seeking healthcare services from these practitioners seemed to be a common occurrence.AcknowledgmentsAuthors express their deep gratitude to Professor V.
