Background

The novel LRRK2 gene (also known as PARK8), is responsible for up to 6% of all autosomal dominant Parkinsons disease (PD). LRRK2 missense mutations segregate with PARK8-linked PD and are implicated in other neurodegenerative diseases involving alpha-synuclein and tau pathology.
