Background

RNASE3 is cytotoxin and helminthotoxin with low-efficiency ribonuclease activity. It possesses a wide variety of biological activities. This protein exhibits antibacterial activity, including cytoplasmic membrane depolarization of preferentially Gram-negative, but also Gram-positive strains and promotes E. coli outer membrane detachment, alteration of the overall cell shape and partial loss of cell content. Recombinant human RNASE3 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli.
