Background

Id3, a 14kDa protein that is a member of the Id family of helix-loop-helix proteins, is believed to be a dominant negative regulator of bHLH proteins involved in cell differentiation and implicated in the control of cell growth, cellular differentiation, apoptosis and carcinogenesis.
